Noodle Soup

Noodle Soup
How do you eat noodle soup using Western etiquette?

For example, ramen, pho, udon, etc.

In Asian cultures, we basically just slurp up the noodles. But I read that in western etiquette, slurping is seen as rude. So how would someone who practices western etiquette eat noodle soup without slurping or making slurping sounds?

Do not touch or pick up the bowl.
Sit up straight. Slouching makes it more likely you’ll get noodles all over the place.
If possible, use a soup spoon. This a wider, flatter spoon.
If you need to cut the noodles, do it like this- scoop up a spoon full of soup, and trap the dangling noodles between the edge of the spoon and the side (not the bottom) of the bowl, pushing away from yourself. This should cut the noodles neatly.
With each bite of soup, scrape the bottom of the spoon on the edge of the bowl, either to the side or the far edge of the soup bowl. This keeps drops of soup from dripping off.
Now, this is the formal method – after you have the method down, you can start taking short cuts like the rest of us.
